Tactical medicine in the students' view

Tactical medicine in the students' view

On Monday, 17th March 2025, students of the 3rd year of the Department of Emergency Medicine, as part of the Tactical Medicine course, took part in an excursion to the 5th Special Forces Regiment in Žilina under the guidance of a medical officer from the 5th Special Forces Regiment.
Arriving at the regiment's premises, they first visited the Hall of Honour and Glory, where they learned about the history of the unit and saw exhibits documenting its extraordinary activities. The programme continued with a professional presentation and discussion, which introduced the activities of the Regiment and the career opportunities for graduates of the Emergency Medical Service in the Special Forces of the Armed Forces of the Slovak Republic.
The excursion enabled the students to better understand the connection between the teaching of tactical medicine and the actual performance of the military medical service, which also increased their interest in this specific field of professional activity.
The students expressed their sincere gratitude to the commanders of the 5th Special Forces Regiment Žilina and the 51st Training Base for their helpfulness and the opportunity to participate in this inspiring and professionally useful excursion.
